You probably heard a lot about the
compatibility between signs of the same elements. In this article,
you are going to look at another aspect of love compatibility of
western astrology, the 3 qualities. You might be asking so what are
the 3 qualities are how are they related to love compatibility?
The 3 qualities are: Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. Let me start with
Cardinal. Cardinal Signs are the first signs of each season. Due to
them being the "pioneers" of each season, cardinal signs are
restless, active, self-motivated, ambitious, and they often are the
leaders in their communities.
They can be a bit domineering, but that comes part and parcel with
their best qualities of being enterprising, independent, creative,
spontaneous and forceful. Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra
and Capricorn.
The next quality is Fixed. Fixed Signs are very resistant to change.
They are not easily distracted--they keep their hands on the
steering wheel and their eyes on the road. They can be a bit
stubborn or stuck in a rut, a down side of their ability to stay the
course.
However, these signs are valued for their consistent, loyal,
devoted, reliable and patient natures. It is true that they do hold
strong opinions and at times they can be inflexible, but there are
some areas in life that those traits are needed and even encouraged.
Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
Last but not least, the Mutable quality. Mutable signs are the last
signs of each season. They are highly adaptable, flexible and
communicative. Throw a curve to a Mutable sign and they can turn on
a dime, coming up with solutions faster than you can bat an eye.
Mutable signs are restless and embrace change. They are the most
resourceful of all the signs, and thus, they make much from little.
They are highly detail-oriented, but should take care not to get so
wound up in tiny particulars that they lose sight of the whole.
Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

The concept works in the same way as in the elements. Signs
belonging to the same quality are considered compatible. However,
ultimately the elements still hold a higher precedence over love
compatibility as compared to the 3 qualities.
